First 5K of 2011

I completed my first 5k of the year : 13th Annual Parkinson Canal Run/Walk 2011. I was using it as starting point and set a goal of 20 minutes. I m recovering from a mild ankle sprain and didn't want to kill myself. It was a great course but the final mile was into 15 mph headwinds and was 34 degrees out. That slowed the pace down. The winning time was about a minute slower then the previous year (16:29 this year vs 15:32) and I m guessing partially because of the wind. In either case my time was pretty decent without me over pushing myself (20:16). I ran pace with a young lady (first overall for the ladies). It turned out I placed 12 overall and 2nd in my age group (once the two winners had been factored out). My next race is May 1st. I m hoping with better weather and good health to break 20.

Eliminate Debt

Here is my next piece of on personal finance. Unedited and untouched.

I know what I have been telling you is stuff that has been heard before. That is because it is solid advice. Before you can start making money and build wealth you need to prevent becoming poor. That is why you need to setup your future, eliminate your bad habits and eliminate your debt. What sense does it make to "make money" when you are losing it on the other end. Budgeting is another one of these peices that will help you analyze your spending, build capital and help prevent you from going broke.

The pieces I have been giving are just overviews and not details on how to do each piece (which is just as important as the step its self).  These steps are not as simple as they may seem. They can be complicated depending on your level of knowledge on the topic and financial situation. With that said, I am willing to give further details on each peice if requested.

Always do your homework before making any moves.

Jim Cramer is my Favorite Wall Street guy. His show Mad Money is on CNBC. His books are prety good (I have read two Confessions of a Street Addict and Stay Mad for Life).

Speakers Going Hammer

I installed a system in to a friend's car. Check out the video of the before and after. It is amazing the difference it makes (and I am somewhat tone deaf). You can't totally get the full difference in the video.

I enjoy doing all kinds of things and love learning new things. I am always willing to try something once or twice and learn how to do things I didn't know how to do before. I have come across a lot of things I have ended up loving this way. This being one of them (Music and working with my hands). Jack of all trades and master of a few.

I learned how to install systems from two people when I got my first car. I have installed about 10 systems in some fashion since. Oh and excuse my eating in the beginning of the video that is the inner fat kid in me.
