GLD- 9 Years Later

Me and my brother were close in age (14 months apart) which made us even closer. Yeah we fought and had our differences (what brothers don't) but we always came together at the end of the day. I have chosen to honor him through life.  Dealing with death at an early age wasn't easy. First uncle Lavia followed by my Brother and six months later my Grandpa Vega. Although my brother's death had the greatest impact all of them effected me. It has taught me to appreciate those you love, your family, enjoy the moments in everyday, not to get hung up on trivial things, and to remember at least you are alive.

Side Note: The reason for my guardian angel tat being more warrior like or rough goes back to remembering my brother for all he was. A saintly angel was something he wasn't but a fighter and a protector he was.

Rochester Public Market

I am going to start sharing some of the places I like in Rochester. Of course most of them revolve around food. Here is the first one.

Here is a video I found on the Public Market. The history on, variety of items (food, restaurants, various vendors) and size of the market makes is unique.

What has been going on?

Update
I haven't been posting much lately because I have been a little busy with work, training and living life. Now that works current busy cycle has ended I have some extra time back.  With that said,  I would like to say congrats to my recent employees that graduated and are moving on to the next part of life (six of the eight students I had graduated).

I have been on the go since Easter weekend. I spent that weekend out in Niagara/Buffalo with my brother B from the A. We chilled and I met new people here in Western NY (both business and leisure). I also hung out with my co worker/friend's family for a few hours. It is weekends like that, that reminds me how great it is to have a diversity of Friends. Friends form different walks of life, professions, ethnicities, and religions.

Car
I have been putting money into my car every time I turn around. One week after putting 800 into it the check engine light came on. The problem can cost up to another 300 to fix. So I decided I should just get another car. After shopping around and doing some research I decided to get a Nissan Versa. Of course the dealership didn't have the one I wanted and "couldn't get one". I decided to shop around for a used car. I didn't find anything I liked. All that did was confirm was that I want a BMW and anything else will just not satisfy me. I saw a BMW 330i I liked and when I went back to talk to the dealer it was sold ;( so I threw in the towel on a new car for now.

Credit Card
On top of my car issue and working extra hours some how a charge was added to my card. I had to call and cancel the card. They shipped me a new one to my house but of course someone has to be home between 9-7 (of course I am a t work during that time). I had to have them re-issue another card to my job so I can sign for it. I then had to sign some paperwork and mail it in for the fraud charges and I still don't know what happened or who made the charge for that nasty Edible Arrangement.

WORK
I have been working crazy hours at work in preparation for the busy period. In which I was at one point called a A RACIST by a customer (I will post a video about what happened). That is now done and my work schedule is easier.

Oh, I almost forgot about the fire. The building I work in had a fire in the lower level. The building has construction going on. When the fire alarm went off they thought someone accidentally set it off. After checking what alarm went off and realizing no one was working in that area they realized an actual fire was happening.  Smoke was pouring out the lower level. They put it out and the fire department showed up 15 minutes later (yeah 15 minutes). About 9 trucks showed up by the time it was all said an done. Well of course they closed the building down for the day due to smoke. Normally I would have been like cool an early day but this happened during a time when I need to work extra hours not less to get all my work done.  I did enjoy the extra couple hours though because it was one of those rare nice days in Rochester.

Training
I have been training and continuing to run 5Ks. I posted the Wegmans 5k Results. I have also still been doing the P90 workouts and Basketball in the mornings. I just canceled my gym membership now that the weather is nicer and I can workout outside.  I love to be outside training.

With my training my times have come crashing down. I have also put on 10 pounds of muscle and my abs are coming in. I am seeing the fruits of my labor which is motivating me to work harder.

Recent Weekend
This past weekend was great. I took some time off to visit family and friends. It isn't often that long weekends go exactly as planned but this was one. I spent Friday with my cousin and my goddaughter at the Bronx Zoo. She is amazingly smart and beautiful. I hope it isn't another year before I see her.

Saturday was another good day minus the one thing that didn't go as planned. I was suppose to spend some time with my favorite cousin in the world but that didn't happen. I did get to hang out with my little homey Sivon (check out the video we made in the post before this one). We played some basketball and watched Fast Five. I also went to see his baseball game. Before the game I hung out with my Cuz big A and watched a couple movies.

After the game I went and saw my grandma and got some of her famous rice and chicken. I also spent some time with my godparents after I went for a short 2 mile run. After I hit the shower and hit the streets. I got to spend the evening with a couple of friends celebrating a 21st birthday. I haven't laughed that hard or seen someone so drunk since.....I saw her drunk (maybe lol). Either way Happpy birthday and thanks for the good time.

After going to bed at 3am I got up at 730a for a 5k race. I went and meet up with my big cuz to see her (since I hadn't seen her the whole weekend). I then dragged my other cousin to run in the race with me. At 930 the gun goes off and we are off. My wonderful family was present to cheer me (and my cousin) on. I crossed the finish line in 2nd overall (1st in age group) with a time of 19:16. My cousin also did good beating her time by a minute from the year before.

After collecting my trophy and realizing my aunt left with the keys to my car we left the race. We (about 10 family members) meet for brunch at IHOP for my last event before leaving. We all scarfed down our food. I collected my keys from my aunt and hit the road. After making it back to the ville I picked up my grandma from Church, packed and was on my way back to Rochester to conclude my trip.

I love my family. I love spending time with them and can't wait to the next visit. I hope that is soon. Check out some of the pictures below.

Wegmans Family 5K

I did my second 5k of the year. I finished 8th overall not 6th as mentioned in the video. This was a pretty fast course. The course had a few hills but no big ones. It was a little cold and had a few winds. My next race is going to be Run Like The Wind .  I hope to run the same time but that course is much harder with a few steep hills.
